New Requirements

Controlling costs, improving efficiency and assuring quality have always been important goals for test operations. In recent years, new requirements have been added to IDMs. These include:

  • The need to outsource some or all of your testing to OSATs. This, in turn, means that you need a common view of data from various sources and you need new tools to monitor the utilization of any consigned equipment you may have.
  • The need to manage huge volumes of test results, and do it in near-real-time. There was a time when we turned off recording parametric results in order to reduce storage requirements. But now, more data is need - not less - in order to fully insure device reliability and functionality. With more data being generated, the need for real-time access to test results has increased. No longer can you wait 24 hours to figure out that you had a major deviation occur on your test floor.
  • New methodologies such as adaptive test need to be deployed in order to meet cost or ultra-high quality requirements. Real-time interaction with the test cell is required. These solutions also need to be portable for installation at your subcons.
